Pertemps Final trends
The Pertemps Final is a qualifier series that ends in a three mile handicap hurdle, and it has been unusually kind to outsiders. Three of the last five winners returned at 25/1: Third Wind in 2022, Monmiral in 2024 and Doddiethegreat in 2025.
Supremely West broke the pattern in 2026, winning at 10/3 for Dan Skelton, but the weight of evidence still says the market struggles here. Horses qualify by running in earlier heats, which means the field is full of stayers whose recent form was run under different conditions, and the ratings rarely separate them cleanly over three miles.
Pertemps Final winners on file: Supremely West, Doddiethegreat, Monmiral, Good Time Jonny, Third Wind. The market has been a poor guide here, with only 1 of the last 5 winners going off favourite. The biggest-priced winner in that time was Doddiethegreat at 25/1 in 2025.
