Triumph Hurdle trends
The most striking trend in our data belongs to this race: Willie Mullins has trained all five Triumph Hurdle winners on file, from Vauban in 2022 through Lossiemouth, Majborough and Poniros to Apolon De Charnie in 2026. Five from five is a level of dominance no other Festival race comes close to.
That has not made it easy to back. The last two winners came in at 100/1 and 50/1, both from the same yard that sent out the 6/4 and 11/8 winners before them, so knowing where the winner will come from is not the same as knowing which one it will be. Juvenile hurdle form is thin by nature, since these horses are four years old with a handful of runs behind them.
Lossiemouth's 2023 win is the one that reads best in hindsight, given she went on to win two Mares' Hurdles and the 2026 Champion Hurdle.
Triumph Hurdle winners on file: Apolon De Charnie, Poniros, Majborough, Lossiemouth, Vauban. The market has been a poor guide here, with only 2 of the last 5 winners going off favourite. The biggest-priced winner in that time was Poniros at 100/1 in 2025.
