Townend's five Gold Cups put him level with Pat Taaffe at the top of the riders' list, and in 2026 he rode the winners of the Champion Hurdle, the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Gold Cup in the same week. Almost all of it has come for Willie Mullins.

Those wins came between 2018 and 2026, in the Cheltenham Gold Cup 5 times, the Baring Bingham Novices' Hurdle 4 times, the County Handicap Hurdle 3 times, the Queen Mother Champion Chase 3 times, the Arkle Chase 2 times, the Champion Hurdle 2 times, the Mares' Hurdle 2 times, the Triumph Hurdle 2 times, the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle, the Ryanair Chase, the Stayers' Hurdle and the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

Winner counts only. Because the archive holds the first four home rather than full fields, these are not strike rates.
