Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle trends
A big-field handicap hurdle where the winner usually needs luck in running as much as ability. Langer Dan proved otherwise by winning it twice for Dan Skelton, in 2023 at 9/1 and again in 2024 at 13/2, which is a rare feat in a race this competitive.
The prices tell the story: Commander Of Fleet won at 50/1 in 2022 and Jimmy Du Seuil at 16/1 in 2025. Jingko Blue winning at 9/2 for Nicky Henderson in 2026 was the exception rather than a change of pattern.
The race has run under different sponsors, most recently as the BetMGM Cup, but it is the same contest and the full history sits here.
Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle winners on file: Jingko Blue, Jimmy Du Seuil, Langer Dan, Commander Of Fleet. The market has been a poor guide here, with only 1 of the last 5 winners going off favourite. The biggest-priced winner in that time was Commander Of Fleet at 50/1 in 2022.
The race has run under several sponsored names, including Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle and BetMGM Cup Handicap Hurdle. They are all the same contest, so the full history sits on this page.
Festival form
1 of the 5 winners on file had already won at the Cheltenham Festival before taking this race.
- Langer Dan (2024) had won the 2023 Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle.
Winners without an earlier win listed here had not won at the Festival since 2022, which is as far back as this archive currently runs.
See the full card for each Festival on the results by year pages, or the Ladies Day page for how the rest of the day went.
