Supreme Novices' Hurdle trends
The Festival opens with a two mile novice hurdle run at a pace that flatters nobody, and the market has been a reliable guide. No Supreme winner in the last five years started at bigger than 9/2, which makes it one of the few races at the meeting where the shortlist really is short.
What follows tends to matter more than the race itself. Constitution Hill won it in 2022 and took the Champion Hurdle the next year, and Marine Nationale won it in 2023 before landing the 2025 Queen Mother Champion Chase. Recent winners have come from four different yards, so this is not a race any one trainer has locked down. Nicky Henderson has taken two of the five on file, with Old Park Star in 2026 and Constitution Hill in 2022, both ridden by Nico de Boinville.
